• Diesel prices see welcome decline after reaching 10-month peak

    After two weeks of steady increases, both diesel and gasoline prices have finally dropped. According to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on July 1, the national average on-highway diesel price dropped 5 cents to $3.727.  Gas prices dropped 5 cents to $3.164. 

    What are the current diesel prices across the U.S.?

    Here are this week’s diesel price highlights from each region of the U.S.:

    • Gulf Coast: The biggest drop in diesel prices this week was seen off the Gulf Coast with a decrease of 7 cents to $3.369.
    • Midwest: Diesel prices dropped 6 cents to $3.715 in the Midwest.
    • West Coast: Off the West Coast, diesel prices dropped 4 cents to $4.421. Without including California, diesel prices dropped 5 cents to $4.035.
    • Rocky Mountain: In the Rockies, diesel prices dropped 3 cents to $3.659.
    • East Coast: Off the East Coast, diesel prices dropped 2 cents to $3.775.

    According to AAA Motor Club, the current national diesel price average is $3.696. This is 3 cents lower than the EIA’s current estimate and 11 cents lower than this time last year.

    What are the current gasoline prices across the U.S.?

    The current national average on-highway gasoline price is $3.163, according to the EIA, 5 cents lower than last week’s average. 

    Here are this week’s gasoline price highlights from each region of the U.S.:

    • Gulf Coast: The biggest drop in gas prices this week was seen off the Gulf Coast with a decrease of 11 cents to $2.739.
    • West Coast: Off the West Coast, gas prices dropped 5 cents to $4.109. Without including California, gas prices dropped 2 cents to $3.835.
    • East Coast: Off the East Coast, gas prices dropped 4 cents to $3.031.
    • Midwest: Gas prices dropped 4 cents to $3.051 in the Midwest.
    • Rocky Mountain: In the Rockies, gas prices dropped 0.2 cents to $3.175.

    According to AAA, the current national gasoline price average is $3.178. This is 2 cents higher than EIA’s current estimate and 31 cents lower than this time last year.
