Georgia-based fuel retailer to offer CNG just off I-95

Nov. 5, 2012

Enmark, a Savannah, GA-based convenience store and fuel retailer, is building a fast-fill compressed natural gas refueling facility at the intersection of I-95 and Georgia Route 21. Construction is scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2013.

The construction is funded in part by a grant from AGL’s Compressed Natural Gas Infrastructure Program.  Enmark, a subsidiary of Colonial Group, will raze and rebuild its existing facility to accommodate the expected increased demand.

“Colonial and Enmark are dedicated to supplying the transportation energy our customers demand, and we expect strong growth in natural gas fuels because of their unique environmental and economic advantages, never mind the growing appetite for domestic energy,” said J. Ryan Chandler, vice president of business development for Colonial Group.  Strong customer interest has led Colonial to dedicate full-time sales personnel to the development and education of natural gas transportation fuel users.

The station will be conveniently located near the port of Savannah, the nation’s fourth largest import/export hub.

“Many fleet owners have reached the tipping point on natural gas, as NGV options and reliability have improved while diesel prices remain stubbornly high and volatile.  Natural gas economics combined with proven operational reliability will lead to a tremendous shift in fleet fuel decisions,” said McLeod Rominger, who is responsible for marketing natural gas fuels for Colonial Group.

Future locations are scheduled for Jacksonville, FL, and Charleston, SC, in early 2014.
