Clean Energy to build Gold Coast Transit’s first hydrogen fueling station in Ventura County
Clean Energy Fuels recently announced it will design and build Gold Coast Transit District’s first hydrogen fueling station in Ventura County, California. The project includes a five-year maintenance agreement and will initially serve five fuel cell buses, with plans to transition up to 70 vehicles to zero emissions by 2040.
“Gold Coast Transit and Clean Energy’s partnership to bring healthier living for the people of Ventura County through clean-operating buses goes back years,” said Chad Lindholm, SVP at Clean Energy. “It is very rewarding to work with forward-looking transit agencies like Gold Coast, and we are honored that they chose us to take them into hydrogen fueling and fuel cell buses.”
The new hydrogen station, funded in part by a $12.1 million U.S. Department of Transportation grant, is expected to be completed in 2027 at GCTD’s Oxnard facility, and Clean Energy will continue supporting the agency’s existing natural gas fleet of 61 buses. Learn more…
