With spring on the distant horizon, diesel and gas prices continue to rise. The national average on-highway diesel price rose 1 cent to $3.688, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) on February 10. Gas prices rose 4 cents to $2.902.

Here are this week’s diesel price highlights from each region of the U.S.:

  • Rocky Mountain: The biggest increase in diesel prices this week occurred in the Rockies for 12 cents to $3.539.
  • Midwest: In the Midwest, diesel prices rose 1 cent to $3.636.
  • West Coast: Along the West Coast, diesel prices dropped 0.1 cents to $4.376. Without including California, diesel prices dropped 1 cent to $3.969.
  • Gulf Coast: Along the Gulf Coast, diesel prices dropped 0.2 cents to $3.377.
  • East Coast: Along the East Coast, diesel prices dropped 1 cent to $3.756.

According to AAA Motor Club (AAA), the current national diesel price average is $3.659. This is 3 cents lower than EIA’s current estimate and 1 cent higher than this time last year.

What are the current gasoline prices across the U.S.?

The current national average on-highway gasoline price is $2.902, according to EIA, 4 cents higher than last week’s average. 

Here are this week’s gasoline price highlights from each region of the U.S.:

  • West Coast: The biggest increase in gasoline prices this week occurred along the West Coast for 11 cents to $3.938. Without including California, gas prices rose 8 cents to $3.497.
  • Rocky Mountain: In the Rockies, gas prices rose 10 cents to $2.669.
  • Midwest: In the Midwest, gas prices rose 4 cents to $2.688.
  • Gulf Coast: Along the Gulf Coast, gas prices rose 3 cents to $2.476.
  • East Coast: Along the East Coast, gas prices remained unchanged at $2.822.

According to AAA, the current national gasoline price average is $2.921. This is 2 cents higher than EIA’s current estimate and 22 cents lower than this time last year. 

In a recent press release, AAA stated: “Gasoline demand is down as fewer drivers hit the road during the recent winter storms. But this is the time of year when pump prices start nudging higher as spring approaches and refineries start making the switch to summer-blend gasoline production.”
