Diesel and gas prices both saw increases this week. The national average on-highway diesel price rose 2 cents to $3.711, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) on February 18. Gas prices rose 2 cents to $2.924.

Here are this week’s diesel price highlights from each region of the U.S.:

  • Rocky Mountain: Diesel prices increased the most in the Rockies this week by 7 cents to $3.607.
  • Gulf Coast: Along the Gulf Coast, diesel prices rose 4 cents to $3.412.
  • Midwest: Diesel prices rose 3 cents to $3.664.
  • East Coast: Diesel prices rose 1 cent to $3.763.
  • West Coast: Diesel prices rose 1 cent to $4.383. Without including California, diesel prices rose 0.1 cents to $3.970.

According to AAA Motor Club (AAA), the current national diesel price average is $3.670. This is 4 cents lower than EIA’s current estimate and 1 cent lower than this time last year.

What are the current gasoline prices across the U.S.?

The current national average on-highway gasoline price is $2.924, according to EIA, 2 cents higher than last week’s average.

Here are this week’s gasoline price highlights from each region of the U.S.:

  • West Coast: The biggest increase in gasoline prices this week occurred along the West Coast, by 11 cents to $4.045. Without including California, gas prices rose 11 cents to $3.608.
  • Rocky Mountain: Gas prices rose 7 cents to $2.737.
  • East Coast: Gas prices rose 1 cent to $2.833.
  • Gulf Coast: Along the Gulf Coast, gas prices rose 1 cent to $2.482.
  • Midwest: Gas prices dropped 1 cent to $2.683.

According to AAA, the current national gasoline price average is $2.923. This is 0.1 cent lower than EIA’s current estimate and 24 cents lower than this time last year. 

In a recent press release, AAA said: “Drivers may notice gas prices ticking up slightly ahead of the holiday weekend. The national average for a gallon of regular is up a couple of cents from last week to $2.94. Current prices remain below what they were this time last year, when the national average was $3.14.”
