• “Airless airbag” springs for Ram ProMaster offer smooth ride

    May 30, 2014

SuperSprings International has released the SumoSprings Solo “airless airbag” for Ram ProMaster vans.

The SumoSprings Solo is designed for enhancing the vehicle’s rear suspension, creating a smoother ride. A one-piece unit, the SumoSprings Solo is composed of a proprietary microcellular urethane that fills the gap left by a short factory bump stop, the company said. SumoSprings improve ride, reduce side-to-side body roll and eliminate sudden bottoming out. They offer a progressive spring rate that provides full support when needed, while also engaging smoothly.

SumoSprings can be installed in-house with standard tools.

“With SumoSprings, ProMaster users can upgrade the stock rear suspension without having to send the vehicle to a spring shop,” said Mike Visser, president of SuperSprings International. “That way, there is no wasted time spent shuttling drivers back and forth, and the installation can be done whenever it is most convenient.”

SumoSprings are designed to be a maintenance-free “fit-it-and-forget-it” solution. Unlike traditional airbags, they will never sag or leak and require no compressor lines, the company added. SumoSprings are oil-, salt- and UV-resistant, providing durability even in the harshest environments.

The ProMaster-compatible SumoSprings (P/N SSR-304) come in two different densities: one for use with medium loads and one for use with heavy loads.
