TRP Aftermarket Parts has released a full line of batteries for a number of applications, including truck, bus and other commercial vehicles.

The batteries are available as dual-purpose, starting or absorbed glass mat (AGM) and offer up to 1,150 cold-cranking amps (CCA) for cold-weather reliability and CCAs as low as 650 for warmer climates, the company said. The dual-purpose nature allows for more frequent discharge and recharge, and the batteries include fiberglass strands embedded in the plate surfaces to lock active material to the plates to prevent shorts. The line includes both standard lead-acid designs as well as the newer AGM technology.

“While AGM batteries are more expensive than traditional lead-acid batteries, all it takes is one day of lost revenue to make it worth your while,” said Everett Seymoure, global brand manager for TRP.

The batteries include a two-year warranty supported by Kenworth and Peterbilt dealers nationwide.

The company also released a spring brake chamber for use in all Class 6, 7 and 8 trucks, trailers and buses. The chamber is available from TRP-authorized Kenworth and Peterbilt parts and service distributors.

According to the company, features of the product include epoxy-coated steel power springs for longer life and corrosion resistance; a highly polished chrome plated internal push rod to prevent internal seal wear; 10-gauge reinforced stud mounting housing; stroke indicator to help the operator determine when brakes need adjustment or replacement; and heavy-duty, synthetic rubber diaphragms to provide resistance to abrasion and contaminants often found in pressurized air.

The chamber has been tested to meet or exceed original equipment manufacturer specifications and includes a warranty, TRP said. It is the first of several new products that TRP plans to release in the coming year, the company noted.
