Phillips Industries has added a new product to its line of Permalogic power control units. Permalogic Reefer is an all-weather, electronic controller designed to manage power to trailer dome lamps in refrigerated trailers. A key advantage, Phillips said, is that it allows operation of the trailer dome lamps even if the trailer is not connected to the tractor.

According to the company, Permalogic Reefer also protects the operation of the refrigeration unit. For example, if the refrigeration unit battery falls below 12.2 volts, the controller will shut off power to the interior lamps to save available power for the refrigeration unit. To further save battery power, Permalogic Reefer automatically shuts off interior dome lamps after 30 minutes of continuous use.

As with all Permalogic products, Phillips noted, Permalogic Reefer automatically switches off the interior dome lamps when the brakes are applied, thus enhancing vehicle safety by maximizing available power for the braking system’s ABS function.
