A Class 7 cabover for urban delivery applications was introduced by Kenworth Truck Co. yesterday. The new K360 medium-duty vehicle is based on the DAF LF55, built by Kenworth’s European sister company, DAF.

With body sizes ranging from 22 to 26 ft., the 33,000-lb. GVWR K360 will initially be available in a 4x2 configuration. Spec’d with a 5.9-liter Paccar engine and 6-sp. manual transmission, the cabover will be rated at 220 hp. and have maximum torque of 605-lb.-ft.

Full production launch for the Kenworth K360 is scheduled for late 2007, at which time it will be available with the new Paccar PX-6 engine family. Horsepower ratings will range between 220 and 280; maximum torque will be 620 lb.-ft. Customers can spec either automatic or manual transmissions.

Kenworth attributes the popularity of the K360’s DAF LF55 predecessor, which was named European Truck of the Year in 2002, to its payload capacity, low chassis weight and clear back of cab.
