At a news conference last month at its huge western production facility in Toole, UT, executives of Detroit Diesel Remanufacturing Corp. (DDR) detailed the widening scope of the engine and component remanufacturing capabilities of the Detroit Diesel Corp. subsidiary, including both its trademarked “reliabilt” products and those produced under contract for other suppliers.

“Our remanufacturing business continues to grow at a steady pace and we are excited about the opportunities to continue building our reliabilt brand in the marketplace,” said Jim Morrow, DDC executive-vp and president of DDR.

According to Morrow, in addition to remanufacturing Detroit Diesel Series 50/60 and two-stroke engines and engine components, DDR also remans Mercedes Benz MBE 900/4000 diesels and the OM612/647 diesels that power Dodge Sprinter vans.

The firm remans Mercedes-Benz automatic and manual transmissions; automatics and rear axle assemblies for Sprinters; and Alliance (a Freightliner brand) heavy-duty starters, alternators and axles.

Morrow introduced Dave Atherton, the new vp & gm of Detroit Diesel Remanufacturing-West in Toole, one of five reman facilities run by DDR. According to Atherton, DDR uses unique processes to ensure all of its remanufactured products are “recovered and returned to the latest blueprint specifications and tested to OE standards.”

Atherton said all parts are upgraded to take advantage of the latest engineering design changes.
