Phillips Industries has developed a line of battery cables that allow early detection of corrosion buildup in cables to help fleets save on maintenance costs.

According to the manufacturer, maintaining electrical capacity is critical to maximizing the reliability of a truck, but hidden corrosion with standard black and red battery cables can silently rob the vehicle of that necessary power.

Phillips stated that its Clear-Vu cables are designed to replace OEM battery cables. As the name implies, the cables allow maintenance personnel to see any corrosion developing from the inside. Fleets ultimately save by reducing the likelihood of having to replace electrical system parts, including alternators, starters and batteries, due to damaging corrosion, said the company.

Phillips pointed out that the heavy wall shrink tubing of the Clear-Vu cables provides additional corrosion protection by stopping water and contaminants from entering the charging system.

Clear-Vu cables are available in smoke and translucent red, in both two- and three-lug configurations.
