East Manufacturing has offered to make LED lighting standard on all its aluminum trailers at no additional cost to fleets.

According to the company, LED lights benefit trailer owners in a number of ways, including lasting twenty times longer than their traditional incandescent counterparts and providing up to 100,000 hours of trouble-free operation. The LEDs also draw from 10% to 25% fewer amps than traditional lights so more safety lights can be used on a trailer with less overall draw on the electrical system.

Other benefits of the LED trailer lights noted by East include “instant on” brake lighting, which gives trailing motorists more time to react. The manufacturer notes that its aluminum trailers also exceed legal requirements for luminescence. They use PC-rated LED marker lights in all locations, which provide 180-degree visibility for both the driver and the motoring public compared to average incandescent truck lights that provide only 90 degrees luminescence.

Mark Holtz, East’s vp-sales and marketing, says, “LED lighting is the wave of the future. East is even able to extend its warranty to 10 years on LED lighting systems that are configured with plug-in type harnesses.”
