For the second consecutive year, the J.D. Power and Associates Medium-Duty Truck Customer Satisfaction Study ranked Peterbilt highest in conventional cab customer satisfaction, while Chevrolet garnered the top spot for dealer service.

The 2007 study analyzed responses from over 1,541 owners of model-year 2005 conventional trucks in Classes 5, 6 and 7.

Kenworth received second place in customer satisfaction, followed by GMC Truck, Hino, Freightliner and Chevrolet.

The conventional truck ranking is determined by the following four factors, in order of importance: vehicle performance, quality, warranty and cost of ownership (in order of importance).

“The average number of engine problems experienced by owners had been steadily increasing between 2003 and 2006, but we see a reversal of this trend in 2007,” J.D. Power reports. “It appears that truck and engine manufacturers are working out the issues they experienced while meeting the new emission standards introduced in 2003.”

In terms of dealer service, Chevrolet was followed by Peterbilt, GMC Truck, Hino, and Kenworth. Overall satisfaction for dealer service is based on dealer facility, service quality, service delivery, service initiation, service advisor and price.
