Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., in collaboration with the Tire Industry Assn. (TIA), will offer certification for tire technicians working at Goodyear, Dunlop, Kelly and Wingfoot Tire Centers. Training will be available in 48 cities throughout the country in 2006.

Steve McClellan, vp-commercial tire systems at Goodyear, said the training will combine Goodyear's hands-on experience with TIA's commercial tire service program.

According to Al Cohn, manager of strategic initiatives, the program reflects Goodyear's vision “to do more than just manufacture quality tires,” including helping dealers “work with fleets to manage their tire costs from OE to replacement and retreads.”
