A new low beam headlamp from Dialight promises to cut energy use by 70% over conventional halogen headlamps and easily retrofits into the space of existing incandescent headlamps.
The 4x6 in. LED unit is SAE/DOT approved and operates at less than 14 watts. It features 12 volt and 24 volt dual-voltage operation.
“This product is the latest edition in our family of highly efficient forward lighting that incorporates Dialight’s exclusive reflector-based optics design to enhance visibility in adverse weather conditions and reduce glare for oncoming traffic,” said Roy Burton, group chief executive. “Based on the data we’ve seen, this new 4x6-in. headlamp is far superior to anything else on the market with regard to energy efficiency and maintenance savings.”
The light’s thermal design requires no cooling fans, Dialight said. A rugged aluminum alloy die cast housing and hard-coated polycarbonate lens make the unit waterproof, helping Dialight expect a 10 year lifecycle.
