Effective January 7, 2008, Freightliner LLC will be re-named Daimler Trucks North America LLC. This coincides with its parent firm's switch from DaimlerChrysler AG to Daimler AG.
Freightliner LLC manufactures, distributes and services products under the nameplates Detroit Diesel, Freightliner Trucks, Freightliner Custom Chassis, Mercedes-Benz engines and transmissions, Sterling Trucks, Thomas Built Buses, and Western Star Trucks. The company stressed that existing operations, structure, and brand strategies will not be affected by the name change, nor will dealer operations nor supplier relations.
“Our business has changed dramatically in the past decade,” says Chris Patterson, president and CEO. “The time is right to implement a name change that reflects both our global DNA and our broad responsibilities within the NAFTA region.”
