Heavy axles get lube option

Already available on the Dana D170 and D190 tandem drive axles, the OnDemand lube pump is now available as an option on the company's 40,000-lb. tandems, offering reduced weight and parasitic losses, lower operating temperatures and improved lubricant performance, according to the company's Commercial Vehicle Systems group. Already available on the Dana D170 and D190 tandem drive axles, the OnDemand lube pump is now available as an option on the company's 40,000-lb. tandems, offering reduced weight and parasitic losses, lower operating temperatures and improved lubricant performance, according to the company's Commercial Vehicle Systems group.

Heavy-duty models now available with the lube option include Dana's DS404(P), DS405(P), DST40(P), DST41(P), DSH40(P) and DSH44(P).

By running only when axle lubrication is required, the system contributes to better fuel economy, according to Dana.
