The engine oil spec applies to Detroit Diesel Series 50 and 60, and Mercedes-Benz MBE 900 and 4000 on-highway engines, model-year 2002 and newer.

In addition to meeting the DDC spec, all ChevronTexaco heavy-duty diesel engine oils are compliant with the industry's API CI-4 PLUS requirements.

According to Gary Parsons, commercial automotive business unit manager, “New engine technologies are much more complex, which means OEMs need lubricants that meet both API and their own unique requirements.”
