Two custom trailer companies have formed a joint venture to manufacture and sell custom trailers to the motorsports, corporate marketing, training, hospitality, mobile marketing and event marketing industries.
Kentucky Trailer, which has produced trailer shells for High Tech Performance Trailers’ aftermarket modification needs, has formally joined with High Tech to design, manufacture and sell the custom trailers, which will be marketed under the name Kentucky-High Tech Performance Trailers.
“This is an exciting development for both Kentucky Trailer and High Tech Performance Trailers,” said Gary A. Smith Sr., president & CEO of Kentucky Trailer. “Having opened our new state-of-the-art plant in Louisville earlier this year, we bring expanded production capability to this partnership, and by joining with High Tech in this joint venture, together we’re exceptionally well positioned to serve High Tech customers’ motorsports transportation needs.”
Sales efforts will take place from High Tech’s Painesville, OH, base with Bob Manley, High Tech president, leading the effort.
“This is a very exciting development for High Tech Performance Trailers,” Manley said. “While we have enjoyed a twenty-four-year working relationship with Kentucky, this formal partnership brings increased efficiencies, a huge increase in production capacity, and ultimately, better value to our customers.”
High Tech is best known for its motorsport trailers. The first jointly produced trailer under the new name, created for Rusty Wallace Racing, will be displayed Dec. 10-12 at the Performance Racing Show in Orlando, FL.
Production of the trailers will transition from Painesville to Kentucky Trailer’s plant in Louisville during 2010. The plant is a 240,000 sq. ft. facility designed specifically for mixed model trailer production.
