Five installation centers for the Bose Ride heavy-duty truck seat have been opened in Southborough, MA, Crossville, TN, Detroit, Dallas and Phoenix, according to the Bose Corp. The seats replace the conventional air-ride suspension with an electromagnetic actuator that protects the driver from whole-body vibration and road shocks, the company says.

The Bose Ride was originally introduced in January for fleet installation only. The new installation centers are intended to expand aftermarket availability to smaller fleets and owner-operators.

In addition to the electromagnetic actuator, the seat has a regenerative power system that turns road vibrations into electrical power to run the seat’s processors and actuator, and a custom-designed seat top. It is compatible with most makes of U.S. heavy-duty trucks, according to Bose, using the existing seat bolts, air lines and a 12V power line from the truck battery.

Retail price for the Bose Ride is $5,995.
