Battery-powered Sleeping Well auxiliary air conditioning systems will now be distributed throughout the U.S. and Canada by Red Dot Corp. The systems are sold as complete aftermarket installation kits to fit almost any commercial vehicle.

Two units will be offered, the Arctic 2000 for sleeper-equipped tractors and the roof-mounted OBLO for straight trucks and other applications. Both units are made by Indel B of Italy and are CARB-compliant and SmartWay-approved, noted Red Dot.

“The Arctic 2000 and OBLO deliver the performance, quality, and cost-effectiveness that truck owners expect from a Red Dot-supported a/c product,” said Robert Gardiner, marketing manager. “We’re excited to promote Sleeping Well systems in the North American commercial vehicle aftermarket.”

The Arctic 2000 offers up to 6,150 btu/hr of cooling and can maintain a comfortable temperature inside the vehicle for up to 12 hours under typical use. A three-piece system, the Arctic includes an evaporator that mounts on the inside of the sleeper, a condenser that mounts on the exterior and a compact under-bunk compression unit. Total weight is 81 lbs., not including four Group 31 AGM batteries.

The OBLO provides 3,250 btu/hr of cooling and involves simple through-the-roof installation on most trucks. It is self-contained and pre-charged. Total weight is approximately 55 lbs. and it can be installed on truck roofs with inclines up to 25 deg.
