Champ Seals recently unveiled its fourth generation wheel seal for heavy-duty truck and trailer wheels seals and said it is designed specifically for “installation simplicity” to help prevent premature failure.
The company said one of the primary reasons for premature wheel seal failures is incorrect installation. That’s why it said its new “e-Barrier” seal features 150% thicker steel, ensuring that it can withstand real-world abuse. The seven sizes currently available cover 80% of all seal usage, the company added.
In addition, the e-Barrier design has a unique “safety zone” feature, Champ said, which allows for some distortion of the seal front face without affecting seal performance. Furthermore, it can be installed by hand, with other manufacturers’ tools or any other tool that can fit the seal into the hub, the company pointed out.
Finally, a unique low-friction bumper ensures low seal friction from the outset, Champ noted, with less friction translating into decreased torque requirements and lower temperatures.
