International Truck and Engine Corp. has announced that the compacted-iron cylinder blocks for its new MaxxForce 11 and MaxxForce 13 big-bore diesel engines will be provided by the OEM’s Brazilian subsidiary MWM International Motores and Brazil-based supplier Tupy.

The blocks will be cast by Tupy at its Sao Paulo operation; MWM International will machine the blocks at its Santo Amaro plant. After the blocks are machined they will be shipped to International’s new Huntsville, AL, plant, where the MaxxForce engines are assembled.

“Our ability to source globally and utilize MWM International for the machining of this new innovative block design demonstrates our commitment to integration and growth as a global company,” said Persio Lisboa, vp-purchasing & logistics, International Engine Group.
