Two new tires, both designed for dump trucks, have been released by Yokohama Tire Corp. The new over-the-road tires each offer a unique benefit to fleets, the company said.

“The unique tread and sidewall designs help create specialized tires for specific applications,” said Gary Nash, Yokohama director-OTR sales. “Yokohama is the only OTR manufacturer that builds tires to handle specific jobs.”

The RL42 is designed for trucks that travel over hard-packed surfaces and job sites where longer hauls are needed. The RB42 offers a tire for soft and/or loose surfaces such as mud, sand, gravel and rocks.

Both tires are available in sizes 1800R33 and 2400R35. Both tires also feature an extra-durable casing and a deep flush tread. The two tires also have steel cord belts to guard against tread punctures and buttress side protection that protects the sidewalls from snags and cuts.

The RL42 features circumferential grooves to dissipate heat; a directional tread pattern for increased traction; and deep, wide grooves to help expel mud and dirt. The RB42 has a zig-zag groove pattern for improved traction on muddy and rocky surfaces and a large center block that increases resistance to cuts for enhanced overall wear.
