A new series of live-floor trailers from Titan Trailers is intended for “extreme” applications such as demolition, but weights significantly less than models with steel floors, according to the manufacturer.

The new model uses a V-18 aluminum V-Floor unloading system from Keith Mfg. Co. in place of the steel self unloading V-floor typically used to haul municipal solid waste, recycled materials, wood chips, construction debris, fertilizers and farm chemicals, and other abrasive materials. The V-18 floor has 18 aluminum unloading slates to “walk” freight out of the trailer, compared to 9 slats used by the company’s standard aluminum and steel floor systems.

The design also features a sub-deck that resists leaks and heat without floor seals prone to wear damage under extreme conditions, Titan said.

The new live-floor trailers can be used in place of steel-body dump trailers, which have a practical payload limit around 50 cubic yards and often have problems with off-balance loads on uneven work sites, the manufacturer said. A 48 ft. Titan trailer offers more than double the payload capacity – up to 130 cubic yards – while the self-unloading system maintains a sure footing for the trailer while it walks off the load, according to Titan.
