The next generation of the popular XZE all-position tire for regional hauling and vocational applications will deliver up to 15% more overall tread life, according to Chris Tolbert, marketing product segment manager for Michelin Americas Truck Tires.
Dubbed the XZE2, the new tire will be released in seven “core” 22.5- and 24.5-in. sizes on March 1, with a low-profile 24.5-in. size following on April 1, Tolbert said, introducing the new tire at the annual meeting of the Technnology & Maintenance Council.
In addition to extended tread life, the new XZE2 features Michelin's Matrix siping technology and optimized tire profile to resist irregular wear, a 6% wider tread area for improved vehicle stability and a 5% reduction in rolling resistance for better fuel economy, according to Tolbert.
The casing, cord and belts are unchanged from the original XZE.
