According to Ford, its new-gen Police Interceptor models are “bad news for the bad guys.” Both the sedan (which replaces the iconic Crown Vic Police Interceptor and is built on the Taurus platform) and the SUV model boast a “highly efficient” Ti-VCT V6 flex-fuel engine that can run on E85, gasoline or any blend of the two. Preliminary minimum output is 280 hp. and 250 lbs.-ft. of torque for the sedan's 3.5L V6, and 300 hp. and 280 lbs.-ft. of torque for the SUV's 3.7L V6.

The OEM said its advanced V6 displacement technology is “optimal for long days spent idling on the job,” but we assume that was not meant as a knock on eating donuts and sipping coffee in parked cruisers. Ford also observed that “no matter if it's in ‘P’ or ‘D,’ the exclusive police-tuned 6-spd. automatic transmission is maximized for efficiency” as well.

Handling and traction are enhanced by an “intelligent always-on-alert” standard AWD system.
