LOUISVILLE, KY. A new camera system designed for trucking includes infrared LED technology and a wide-angle lens to improve visibility, particularly in traditional blind spots. The PerfectView RVS camera system from Dometic was unveiled at the Mid-America Trucking Show here.
Marketed under the Waeco brand name, the system provides a flexible and versatile tool for drivers, offering enhanced visibility into blind spots around the vehicle, Dometic said.
“These advanced camera systems can provide an extra pair of eyes to the driver when reversing toward an unfamiliar ramp, or when pedestrians or cyclists disappear into the blind spot making a turn to the right,” said Lou Siegel, spokesman for Dometic’s U.S. trucking business unit. “The modular design provides a host of combinations and configurations.”
Available in color or black-and-white, the cameras use infrared LED technology for improved night vision, and the wide-angle lens offers a large picture angle. There is an adjustable anti-dazzle sunshield to reduce glare. The high-resolution monitor includes day and night brightness adjustment along with ergonomic driver controls. It operates on 12-30V DC power.
The cameras are designed for the over-the-road environment and include impact and vibration protection as well as an automatic motor-operated shutter to protect the lens. There is a temperature-controlled heater to prevent condensation build-up.
Built-in microphones in the system allow the driver to communicate with people outside the vehicle. Multiple cameras and monitors can be installed, allowing the driver to choose which view to see at any given time.
