Great Dane has added a new “technology center” to its existing corporate office campus in Savannah, GA.
The 30,000-sq. ft. R&D facility encompasses three new buildings, said the trailer maker, that will be home to: a manufacturing engineering lab for building custom fixtures and testing automation equipment; a corrosion lab; testing facilities for large and small-scale components, quality assurance and thermal efficiency; plus a 5,500-sq. ft. space to house a road simulator capable of testing trailers, truck bodies and buses, along with full-scale automated trailer floor fatigue testing.
“When the new technology center is complete, we will be able to further test our research and design innovations in a state-of-the-art setting, train employees and educate our customers as we all work together to find solutions to best fit their needs,” said Rick Mullininx, Great Dane’s executive vp-engineering.
The trailer maker also just opened a new reefer-trailer plant in nearby Statesboro, GA.
