• Meritor releases new front steer axle rating

    April 22, 2012

Meritor has released a 12,500-lb. rating for its non-drive front steer axles.

The new rating features a draw-key design that offers greater lateral stability, more even loading and greater retention for reduced wear; Meritor bold on king pin cap that reduces contaminant ingress, which may increase wear and decrease service life; and Meritor steer bushings have more friction to optimize steer effort ease without front-axle vibration.

“The new 12,500-lb. rating provides another choice for our customers and their needs,” said Ken Hogan, general manager, NDF Axles & Drivelines, Meritor. “With this new rating our customers will be able to handle bigger loads without increasing front axle weight. This will, in turn, help to increase fuel economy and save our customers’ money.”

The Meritor axle warranty for linehaul applications is five years or 750,000 miles with parts and labor included. Meritor Advantage Plans offer extended coverage up to seven years in linehaul applications.
