Schneider offering truckers an ownership route

Nov. 26, 2012

Schneider National is trying to offer as many paths to ownership as it can. To help owner-operators and fleets who may not otherwise be able to afford their own tractor, the truckload carrier is launching Schneider Used Fleet Truck Sales.

The division gives owner-operators, fleets and wholesalers the opportunity to purchase used Schneider tractors without being required to lease them from Schneider National.

Most of the trucks being offered are 2005-2007 model year and range from $20,000 to $35,000, the company said. All trucks for sale have been serviced and maintained to Schneider’s preventive maintenance standards.

“Sales of used Schneider fleet trucks have been very good,” said Rob Reich, vice president of maintenance at Schneider National. “Many in the industry recognize the aggressive preventive maintenance schedules Schneider has in place to ensure the long-term care of its tractors and are finding good purchasing value.”

The company said it has over 800 units currently available at 18 locations across the U.S. and Canada, including more than 100 trucks in the Northeast, where many truckers were hit hard by Superstorm Sandy.

In addition to standard over-the-road truckload units, Schneider Used Fleet Truck Sales also has over 60 bulk, flatbed, agricultural and oil field trucks for sale; over 50 day cab units and over 100 Ultra Shift automatic transmission trucks. Used trailers are also available with over 300 in inventory.

Schneider also offers financing options on new and “gently” used trucks through its Schneider Finance Division.
