Walcott Truckers Jamboree expanded to three days

Jan. 16, 2013

Iowa 80 Truckstop officials said they will expand the 34th rendition of the Walcott Truckers Jamboree to run for three days this year from Thursday through Saturday, July 11-13, at the truckstop located at I-80 Exit 284, Walcott, IA.

Since its inception in 1979, the Truckers Jamboree has been celebrating America’s truckers. The event is free and annually attracts more than 30,000 visitors.

The Jamboree features:

  • Antique Truck Display
  • Super Truck Beauty Contest
  • Over 175 exhibits
  • Iowa Pork Chop Cookout
  • Carnival Games
  • Live Country Music
  • Trucker Olympics
  • Fireworks

“We’ve had a lot of requests from drivers to continue the event on Saturday and decided 2013 was the year to do it,” said Heather DeBaillie, marketing manager.  “The Walcott Truckers Jamboree allows us to promote a positive image of trucking to the general public and it also gives us the opportunity to let drivers know how much we appreciate what they do to keep this country moving, so we feel adding one more day to the event is a very good decision.”
