Mitsubishi Fuso introduces side-mounted tank

Jan. 24, 2013

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America (MFTA) has introduced a new side-mounted fuel tank option. The 33-gal. tank is available on 2013 Canter FEs.

MFTA said the tank is mounted on the outside of the frame rail on the left side of the cab-chassis. The optional side-mounted tank replaces the standard 30-gal. tank located between the frame rails aft of the rear axle.

For certain body applications, the in-frame tank may prove awkward for fill-pipe routing or can interfere with body mounting. The optional side-mounted fuel tank eliminates those issues and offers the truck buyer and body builder an easy alternative, especially for rollback wreckers, wheel-lift stingers and short overhang dry vans with lift gates, the company said.

The replacement side fuel tank is a no-cost option available on all Fuso Canter FE125, FE160 (both single- and crew-cab) and FE180 models except those with the shortest 110.2-in. wheelbase.
