MHC Kenworth opens green dealership

Jan. 25, 2013

MHC Kenworth has officially opened its most environmentally friendly dealership after nine months of construction.

Groundbreaking on the Odessa, Texas, facility took place in April 2012. Before construction began, 25 wells were drilled below the foundation of the building. Through geothermal technology, water is pumped in and out of these wells and is the sole source of heating and cooling for the entire facility.

“We are more than tripling our parts and service capacity,” said Marty Dudenhoeffer, Murphy-Hoffman Co. vice president. “This state-of-the-art building is a tribute to all of our employees’ hard work and dedication to serving our customers. We are confident our customers will be very pleased with our increased capacity and continued extended hours.”

In addition, translucent hollow-core overhead doors were installed in the service department to allow natural light into the building and provide superior insulation in the 40,000 sq. ft. building. It has 19 service bays.

Located just off Interstate 20, the Odessa dealership is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. An open house event will take place in the spring.

Odessa is the third MHC dealership utilizing green technology, as branches in Oklahoma City, Okla. and Jonesboro, Ark. also embrace similar initiatives.

“We are thrilled with the outcome of the new facilities and are proud that MHC is using sustainable technology to decrease our carbon footprint,” Murphy-Hoffman Company CEO Tim Murphy said. “We are looking forward to welcoming our customers into the new dealerships and making them feel at home by continuing the award-winning service we have been providing over the last 35 years.”
