In-cab exercise system introduced by Freightliner

Louisville, KY. Freightliner Trucks introduced an integrated in-cab exercise and flexibility system here at the Mid-America Trucking Show yesterday. Dubbed the Freightliner In-Cab Training (FIT) System, the new device is designed to provide drivers with full-body strength-and-conditioning workouts in the comfort of their own cabs. The new fitness tool was developed in collaboration with Rolling Strong.

The FIT System features a triple-grip handle, which enables users to interchange three bands to change resistance levels. The system uses existing seat tether and bunk restraint mounting points for installing custom brackets, which makes the system easy to attach and use, according to the company.

“There are several barriers that make it difficult for truck drivers to maintain a healthy lifestyle, from irregular work hours, eating on the road and sitting for extended periods of time,” said Dr. Josef Loczi, manager, engineering strategy and market intelligence for Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA). “The FIT System makes it easy for drivers to be proactive about their well-being…The initial response we received was overwhelming. The drivers who tested it appreciated the simplicity and effectiveness of the system.”

Truck drivers also have access to health, wellness and nutrition information, as well as a personal trainer, via the FIT Channel on www.RollingStrong.com and through blogs, videos and forums located on the Freightliner Trucks online community.

In other news, Freightliner also announced that the company has received more than 10,000 orders for the Freightliner 2014 Cascadia Evolution. First introduced in 2012, it is now in full production.

Powered by Detroit, the Cascadia Evolution features aerodynamic and efficiency improvements that deliver up to an additional 7% improvement in fuel economy over an EPA 2010-compliant Cascadia, and up to 5% improvement in fuel efficiency over the 2013 Cascadia with first-generation aerodynamic enhancements.
