LOUISVILLE, KY. Here at the Mid-America Trucking Show, Chevron introduced the newest product in its Delo 400 family of diesel engine oils focused on improving fuel efficiency.
Chevron described its new Delo 400 XLE Synblend SAE 10W-30 as a premium synthetic blend API CJ-4 product formulated to increase fuel economy and suitable for mixed -fleet applications.
According to Chevron, use of Delo 400 XLE 10W-30 has shown up to a 3.6% fuel economy improvement in short-haul Class 6 vehicles and up to a 1% improvement in long-haul Class 8 trucks, compared to using 15W-40 oil.
“We understand that fleets are under constant costs pressures,” said Jim Gambill, North America Commercial & Industrial brand manager for Chevron Products Co. “With the introduction of Delo 400 XLE Synblend 10W-30, our customers have more lubricant options, allowing them to select the product that best meets their needs.”
Gambill laid out these points as key benefits of using Delo 400 XLE Synblend:
· Fuel economy. “Excellent fuel economy performance in Class 6 and 8 vehicles – up to 3.6 % improvement in Class 6 vehicles relative to SAE 15W-40– which helps minimize operating costs and lower carbon emissions”
· Consistent cold engine starting. “Low-viscosity base stocks promote consistent engine starting for vehicles operating in sub-zero temperatures”
· Minimized operating costs. “Exceptional soot dispersancy and wear control, providing optimum service life and minimal maintenance”
· Emission control system life. “Provides optimum diesel particulate filter (DPF) life for minimal downtime and cleaning, thus managing maintenance costs”
· Managed inventory cost.“Backwards-compatible with previous API Oil Service Categories and engine models”
According to Chevron, Delo 400 XLE is now available in drums across North America. The oil will be available in bulk starting next month, with jugs becoming available.
The oil supplier also noted that Kenworth recently announced that it has selected Delo 400 XLE Synblend as the standard factory fill for new Class 8 diesel-powered truck models.
