• Power Solutions International to supply powertrain for Workhorse chassis

    June 20, 2013

Power Solutions International (PSI) and Amp Holdings have reached a supply agreement for powertrain options for Amp’s Workhorse Chassis models.

Under terms of the agreement, PSI will supply chassis models with fuel-flexible, certified powertrains utilizing GM 4.8L and 6L engines. The systems will be capable of running on gasoline, compressed natural gas (CNG) and propane (LPG) using PSI’s proprietary controls.

“This AMP agreement marks another significant step for PSI in developing its on-highway program,” said Gary Winemaster, PSI president and CEO.

In 2012, PSI introduced an 8.8L “big block” engine for on-highway applications. The new 4.8L and 6L engines for on-highway use are an extension of that program, allowing the company to supply powertrains for Class 4-7 applications, including delivery trucks and bus fleets.

“AMP is committed to pushing the fleet industry forward,” said Martin Rucidlo, president. “This collaboration with PSI will help us do that by offering a full range of cost-effective, alternative-fuel engines designed for today’s market.”

Amp purchased Workhorse from Navistar earlier this year.
