Carrier installs new in-cab training system from Freightliner

Oct. 16, 2013

Transport Corp. of America (Transport America), has installed 200 of the new Freightliner In-Cab (FIT) system in its fleet vehicles.

The FIT system, introduced at the Mid-America Trucking Show in March, is the first-ever OEM designed and integrated in-cab exercise and flexibility system, Freightliner said.

The FIT system features a triple-grip handle, which enables users to interchange three bands to change resistance levels. The system uses existing seat tether and bunk restraint mounting points for installing custom brackets, which makes the system easy to attach and use.

Transport America installed the units to support its Exercise Wellness Blitz, held during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week.

“It is critical that we invest in programs to help drive a higher quality, and healthier lifestyle for our drivers. Transport America is investing in wellness programs like the FIT system which will afford our drivers an opportunity to exercise while on the road and have an online support system to help with nutrition and fitness,” said Steve Royce, vice president-human resources for Transport America.

“By giving drivers accessible tools like the FIT system in the privacy of their own cabs, we are helping them maintain their well-being at their own convenience,” said Mary Aufdemberg, director, product marketing for Freightliner Trucks. “Freightliner Trucks wants to help keep drivers healthy and on the road.”

The system is available as a factory-installed option in all Freightliner Cascadia and Coronado sleeper cab models and for retro-fitting in Century Class and Columbia sleepers.
