Bridgestone Commercial Solutions has launched the R244 all-position steer radial tire for severe service and on-highway use. The tire is ideal for the demands of dump trucks and concrete mixer fleets that spend a higher percentage of their time in on-highway use.
The tire is designed with a wide base ribbed steer pattern for optimum performance without sacrificing the traction needed on rougher roads.
“Most dump and concrete trucks spend more time on interstate highways where irregular wear and ride are more important, than off-highway construction sites,” said Bert Jones, Manager, product marketing, TBR, Retread and OTR. “Many of our customers, especially in the southwest, expressed an interest in a tire that offered longer wear, a smoother on-highway ride and that performed well on sandy sites. The R244 was designed for them.”
The R244 also features a rib-type pattern to help deliver a smoother ride; special tread compounds to provide resistance to irregular wear, extending life and reducing cost per mile; and sidewall protector ribs to protect the casing from curbing damage, plus cuts and abrasions. If one side wears away, simply flip the tire over for continued protection.
The tire comes in three sizes. The 425/65R22.5 is available now. The 385/65R22.5 and 445/65R22.5 will be available later this year.
