Technicians and distributors looking for additional training can now tap into an online training program from the Timken Co. The Timken Tech Series for Commercial Vehicles will start with training on tapered roller bearings. Additional courses will cover lubricants, driveline center support bearings, seals and other topics.

“More than 10,000 technicians, distributors and students have earned certification through our online Timken Tech Series for Light Vehicles during the past eight years,” said Greg Sturm, Timken aftermarket product manager. “Now, we are introducing similar high-caliber training for the commercial-vehicle industry.”
The trainings are focused on practical applications. The multi-media program features easy-to-understand online information supplemented with videos, illustrations and Timken TechTip bulletins to help industry professionals gain the skills needed to move ahead in their careers.
Beyond the basics, the course teaches critical problem-solving skills, including how to select optimal replacement bearings and analyze bearing damage. At the end of each section, the professional may take an online test to earn certification in that subject. Timken recognizes this achievement by awarding certificates and patches to those who earn passing scores on the section tests.
