Peterson introduces new 2-in-1 light with back-up functionality

March 24, 2014

Peterson Manufacturing has introduced a new lighting product to its LumenX LED line. The new light features 2-in-1 technology, allowing it to operate as a stop/turn/tail light as well as offering DOT-legal back-up functionality.

Dubbed a “cyclops style” by design engineers, the model embeds a small white lens within the main red LumenX lens, allowing one of the seven diodes to provide back-up functionality.
All LumenX Series lights from reds to ambers to back-ups feature the latest white-diode LEDs and breakthrough optics engineered to fully illuminate the entire lens and offer no “hot spots” or “dead zones” regardless of viewing angle.

“The idea of integrating a white back-up light into a red lamp was a feasible extension of the LumenX architecture,” said John Hansen, project engineer. “Of course, turning innovative concepts into brand-worthy Peterson products takes high expertise every step of the way.”

The 2-in-1 lights are available in standard 4 in. round and 6 in. oval footprints, with grommet or flange mounting options. When used in pairs, the new 2-in-1 lights meet DOT requirements in any orientation, the company said.
