LOUISVILLE. Yokohama Tire Corp. has launched a new training program this week at the Mid-America Trucking Show. The company also debuted a new commercial mobile website.

Exceed (Excellence through Certification & Education), the online training program, is already available for YTC’s consumer tire dealers. Through a series of interactive training modules, a user can learn commercial tire basics on everything from steer and all-position to on-and-off highway tires. The structure of the program is also designed for dealers to prioritize training that is most relevant for a dealer’s market, the company said.

“Exceed has been such a strong training component and we wanted to extend the tool even further to our commercial dealers,” said Alan Holtschneider, YTC senior manager, marketing communications. “This year at MATS, our commercial Exceed program will be up and ready at our booth for a test drive and will be available for all dealers to use beginning April 1.”

Features of the commercial version include:

  • Easy-to-use navigation for quick access to information.
  • Advanced software to track employee training progress.
  • Commercial ‘Tireology’ section and selling skills module.
  • Profile page detailing completed or in-progress sections.
  • YTC e-StoreTORE reward points for completed training modules.

Yokohama also debuted a new commercial mobile website. The site, available at www.mobile.yokohamatire.com, features direct access to Yokohama’s Emergency Service (YES) for roadside assistance, tools such as the Air Inflation Calculator and Fuel Savings Calculator, a dealer locator and product information.

The mobile site has been designed for optimal use on smartphones and tablet devices.

“Our customers and dealers are constantly either on the road or on their smartphones for instant connectivity – so it was important to have a mobile-friendly commercial website,” said Theresa Palang, YTC manager of digital marketing and public relations.  “Users can now get on-the-go access to YTC’s Fuel Savings Calculator, for example, to compare fuel-efficient tires to help dealers save on their bottom line.”

The Fuel Savings Calculator allows users to see their savings in terms of fuel costs by total fleet and by truck, annual gallons saved and annual carbon footprint saved. The Air Inflation Calculator provides recommended air inflation by entering a tire size, load range and whether a single or tandem configuration on the steer, drive and trailer axles.

There is also a tire search by application, tire size and tire name.
