• Fifth wheel goes on camera

Twin video cameras focused on a tractor's fifth wheel make it easier for drivers to couple and uncouple trailers, according to the developer Fontain Fifth Wheel. Schedulded to reach the market this Fall, the Dual Assist Camera System is wired to an in-cab monitor that initially superimposes crosshairs over the display to help a driver center the tractor as it backs up.  Once the cameras pass under the kingpin, the video switches to the second camera view so the driver can watch the kingpin engage the fifth wheel.

Easier to demonstrate than describe, this video shows the entire coupling process using the dual camera system.
