Hino models approved for NY voucher program

May 14, 2014

Hino Trucks announced that its Class 5 195h and 195h-DC diesel-electric cabover have been approved by the New York Truck – Voucher Incentive Program (NYT-VIP).

The NYT-VIP program is a partnership between the New York State Energy Research and

Development Authority (NYSERDA), New York State Dept. of Transportation (NYSDOT), New York City Dept. of Transportation (NYCDOT), and CALSTART. It offers $19 million in grants on a first come – first served basis. The aim is to accelerate the deployment of alternative fuel vehicles and diesel emission control devices for medium to heavy duty commercial fleets in New York.

“New York customers are already seeing the benefits of our 195h diesel electric COE vehicles realizing up to 30% fuel savings over diesel-only products in well matched conditions,” said Glenn Ellis, Hino Trucks vice president of marketing. “By utilizing the NYT-VIP, customers can realize an immediate payback on the incremental cost of our hybrid truck, and start to see operational savings on day one.”
