Ford Motor Co. plans to offer three diesel engine ratings for its newly revamped F-650/F-750 medium-duty (MD) truck lineup, which is due to go on sale in the spring of 2015.
Introduced back in March at the National Truck Equipment Association’s (NTEA) Work Truck Show, the new F-650 and F-750 will be offered with an optional 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbocharged diesel engine with no vocational limits on its top ratings: 270 hp/675 lb.-ft. torque; 300 hp/700 lb.-ft. torque; and 330 hp/725 lb.-ft. torque.

John Ruppert, general manager with Ford Commercial Vehicle sales and marketing, noted in a statement that multiple engine ratings provide customers with the “flexibility” to scale engine power to work applications and operations.
“We’re giving our customers the power of choice to determine what’s best for their business,” he explained.
Ford added that its “second generation” 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 diesel is linked to a “commercial-grade” six-speed TorqShift HD automatic transmission, with the complete powertrain packaged covered by a five-year/250,000-mile limited warranty.
The OEM also plans to continue offering its 6.8-liter V10 gasoline engine as well for the new F-650/F-750 trucks; an engine that cranks out 362 hp and 457 lb.-ft. of torque and is also meshed the TorqShift HD six-speed automatic transmission. Ford added that its 6.8-liter V10 can be factory-prepped to operate compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquid propane gas (LPG).
