Thermo King opens Dealer Drop Yards to trailers, tractors

March 26, 2015

LOUISVILLE, KY. Thermo King, a brand of Ingersoll Rand, has seven different solutions on display here at the Mid-America Trucking Show from its solar panel solutions to its TracKing telematics offering, but the recently released Dealer Locator and Drop Yard Referral System Application drew the most interest from the audience assembled for the company’s press conference on Wednesday.

The new application, available via the Thermo King website or as a mobile application, was developed to help drivers quickly find Thermo King dealers and drop yard locations in their area. Any driver can use the more than 2,250 stalls available at dealerships nationwide as a safe and secure location for drop off and pick up of waiting loads and trailers.  Tractors are also welcome to park and drivers don’t have to be a Thermo King customers or even a refrigerated carrier to take advantage of available drop yard space, according to Thomas W. Kampf, product manager for the company.

The Dealer Locator and the Drop Yard Locator application also provides additional facility information on each drop yard location ranging from hours of operation to type of security. It also enables drivers to contact dealerships directly to determine space availability.

Thermo King is also offering a panel discussion today on increasing food safety and profitability in the transport industry through monitoring and controls. It will feature Doug Lenz, vice president of product management, marketing and development for Thermo King, as well as Jon Samson, director of the Agricultural & Food Transporters Conference of ATA; Dr. Patrick Brecht, president of PEB Commodities, Inc., Global Cold Chain Alliance and World Food Logistics Organization Scientific Advisory Council—Refrigerated Transportation; and Don Durm, national account executive, PLM Trailer Leasing. According to Lenz, the panel will be recorded for later viewing by those unable to attend today.
