International waiving remote diagnostics fee

March 26, 2015

LOUISVILLE.  The remote diagnostics system OnCommand Connection (OCC) will be offered as a standard no-charge option on all new International trucks starting in July.  Navistar officials also announced at the Mid America Trucking Show that it would offer credits to new truck buyers to cover the cost of basic telematics hardware and data service.

Current owners of 2007 and newer International trucks will also be given the opportunity to add OCC remote diagnostics at free of charge though local dealers, the company said.

“We believe … that we have a responsibility to make the uptime benefits of OnCommand Connection available to the entire industry,” said Michael Canceliere, Navistar sr. VP for global parts and service.  He pointed out that 80% of the trucks on the road today do not use telematics services of any kind.

OCC is an open architecture remote diagnostics system that currently can be integrated with 11 major telematics service providers, according to the company. It monitors and aggregates more than 4,000 fault codes from both proprietary International components and components from suppliers that include Cummins and Eaton.

Along with the expanded no-charge OCC availability, Navistar has launched a new dedicated web site  where fleets can sign up for the service, obtain training and access the portal to their diagnostics data.
