LOUISVILLE. For drivers looking for a product that offers a smoother ride, Firestone Industrial Products said it has just the items: its new Airide integrated cab and primary air-damping spring systems. The products were shown this week at the 2015 Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville.

“Firestone Industrial Products is known industry wide for quality air springs that improve driver comfort, protect cargo and provide miles of trouble-free service,” said Mary Kay Bryja, division marketing manager at Firestone Industrial Products. “We are pioneers of the industry and today have more than 75 years of research and development in air spring technology. We continue to engineer U.S.-manufactured air spring solutions that meet and exceed our customers’ needs.”

The Airide offers effective, lighter-weight alternatives to cab-, truck- and trailer-mount suspension applications, the company said, adding that preliminary testing indicates a notable reduction in the transmission and frequency of vibration when compared to traditional air spring/shock absorbers or air spring/hydraulic damper configurations.

The system provides the functionality of an air spring and shock absorber in a single part. It is comprised of an exterior bellow and proprietary, shock-absorbing module. The bellow is made of a compound engineered for exceptional high-temperature and ozone performance, which stands up to under-cab environmental factors.

The primary air-damping system is often lighter than a hydraulic damper and eliminates the need for damper brackets and hardware. Made of the same high-grade rubber compound, the Primary Air-Damping spring offers exceptional full-load range self-adaptive damping technology and requires no oil.

“The Airide integrated cab and primary air-damping systems provide the potential for an unprecedented level of comfort and cargo protection,” added Bryja.
