RevHD to offer free, online training

July 9, 2015

The heavy-duty wheel-end truck parts manufacturer RevHD has just launched a free wheel-end training course on its website, which, the company says, promises to put a new spin on how mechanics are trained and certified on wheel-ends.

Brian Beathard and Matt Stovall, co-owners of RevHD, applied their 20 years of prior wheel-end training experience to build a master course that covers all products and platforms across the industry, the company said.

“We didn’t want to make it just about RevHD products,” Stovall said. “We wanted to train mechanics on the double-nut system, the spacer system, the unitized hubs and other products that exist in the wheel-end industry. Our goal is for participants to walk away feeling like they understand the entire wheel-end, and they’ve received a value for the time invested in taking the course.”

Why online? Other wheel-end component manufacturers offer various training courses that are often held in the customer’s shop. Beathard and Stovall said they researched customers across America and found that, these days, most prefer a training platform that doesn’t require them to shut down their shop, or coordinate shift changes and vacation schedules just to make sure everyone can attend.

“The beauty of online is the course is always consistent,” Beathard said. “You can hit rewind if you miss something and, more importantly, it can be taken at the customer’s leisure – either as a group or individually. We will also have a Spanish version.”

Certification: After participants complete the 35-minute online training, there is a quiz to test the knowledge they’ve gained.  Successful completion of this quiz earns the participant a certificate demonstrating their level of understanding of various wheel-end systems and their ability to diagnose failures and correct them.

“Many courses out there do not offer a test to prove that any information has actually transferred from the instructor to the student. We wanted to provide quantifiable evidence the information we are providing is being absorbed by the participant,” Stovall said.

“Everything we do is about making the end-users’ job easier and safer,” Beathard added. “This free course is simply an extension of that goal.”
