Navistar’s school bus division, IC Bus, is offering the same special “telematics credit package” the OEM rolled out early this week for heavy trucks for its yellow children-carrying vehicles.
This “telematics credit” includes telematics hardware and a two-year data plan from one of several telematics service providers linked to Navistar’s OnCommand remote diagnostic systems at no cost to customers – though the company stressed that hardware and data from other telematics service provider partners will only be partially covered by this program.
The credit bundle is now in effect for all new school bus orders placed since July 1 in the U.S. and Canada, and will be available to customers buying directly through the IC Bus dealer organization.
The company pointed out that OnCommand is available as a standard no-charge option on all new school buses – even non-IC units - for 2007 models and newer.
